Finite-State Registered Automata and Their Uses in Natural Languages

چکیده
We extend finite state registered automata (FSRA) to account for medium-distance dependencies in natural languages. We provide an extended regular expression language whose expressions denote arbitrary FSRAs and use it to describe some morphological and phonological phenomena. We also define several dedicated operators which support an easy and efficient implementation of some non-trivial morphological phenomena. In addition, we extend FSRA to finite-state registered transducers and demonstrate their space efficiency.

Multidimensional fuzzy finite tree automata
This paper introduces the notion of multidimensional fuzzy finite tree automata (MFFTA) and investigates its closure properties from the area of automata and language theory. MFFTA are a superclass of fuzzy tree automata whose behavior is generalized to adapt to multidimensional fuzzy sets. An MFFTA recognizes a multidimensional fuzzy tree language which is a regular tree language so that for e...
متن کاملReduction of Computational Complexity in Finite State Automata Explosion of Networked System Diagnosis (RESEARCH NOTE)
This research puts forward rough finite state automata which have been represented by two variants of BDD called ROBDD and ZBDD. The proposed structures have been used in networked system diagnosis and can overcome cominatorial explosion. In implementation the CUDD - Colorado University Decision Diagrams package is used. A mathematical proof for claimed complexity are provided which shows ZBDD ...
متن کامل1 Formal Language Theory
This chapter provides a gentle introduction to formal language theory, aimed at readers with little background in formal systems. The motivation is natural language processing (NLP), and the presentation is geared towards NLP applications, with linguistically motivated examples, but without compromising mathematical rigor. The text covers elementary formal language theory, including: regular la...
متن کاملOn the Complexity of Membership and Counting in Height-Deterministic Pushdown Automata
Visibly pushdown languages properly generalise regular languages and are properly contained in deterministic context-free languages. The complexity of their membership problem is equivalent to that of regular languages. However, the corresponding counting problem – computing the number of accepting paths in a visibly pushdown automaton – could be harder than counting paths in a non-deterministi...
متن کاملThe Use of Formal Language Models in the Typology of the Morphology of Amerindian Languages
The aim of this work is to present some preliminary results of an investigation in course on the typology of the morphology of the native South American languages from the point of view of the formal language theory. With this object, we give two contrasting examples of descriptions of two Aboriginal languages finite verb forms morphology: Argentinean Quechua (quichua santiagueño) and Toba. The...
